Keeper's Notes
The story of Side by Side
The kapok blooms before it leafs — a whole tree of pure resolve. When the poet Shu Ting wrote of love between equals, this was her flower: not a vine that clings, but a tree standing beside a tree.
The dark dots on the stamens are set by hand, one by one. On a desk it isn't decoration so much as a position: love stands side by side, and nobody looks up at anybody.

Moments it was made for
- For the driven oneShe doesn't need a flower to look after — she needs one with a spine, like hers.
- A study for twoOne on each desk, colours of your own choosing. Standing side by side takes practice.
- Beside your course notesOn the days you are learning to stand straight in love, let it keep the corner of the desk.
